Kaytlin Westbrook | Children's Author & Speech-Language Pathologist
Kaytlin Westbrook
Hello! I’m so glad you found my little corner of the internet!I write stories that spark joy, connection, and conversation.

About Me
My name is Kaytlin (or Kayt), and I live in Kansas City with my husband and our smiley pup. When I’m not writing or supporting diverse communicators as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), you might find me checking out a big stack of books at the local library, convincing my husband we need to plan our next beach vacation, or saying “yes” to ice cream.
What I Write
As a reader, I’m drawn to stories that tug on my heart, keep me giggling, and make me want to read again and again. I hope this is how you’ll feel when reading my stories, too!Much of my writing is influenced by my work as a pediatric SLP and my own life experiences related inclusion, accessibility, and neurodivergence. I believe ALL children should see themselves represented in the books they read.

My Author Journey
I am represented by Mara Cobb at Lighthouse Literary! I’m a member of SCBWI, participate in the Written Storyteller Certificate program at the Story Center in Kansas City, and stay active in multiple writing communities. When people ask why I write for kids, I think of Madeleine L’Engle’s words: “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
